part of a group of energetic bloggers, and about how
much I'm learning from all of you. Thanks so much.
I don't know if you remember when Al Franken did his
Stewart Smalley bit on Saturday Night Live, but I
was sorry when he quit comedy to become a politician,
because I loved his line, "that's an attitude of gratitude
and that's not a platitude." That's exactly how I feel and I'm
not being funny (he was making fun of new age therapists).
Every single day when I check out what the artists
in the blog world are doing, I feel thankful for the
opportunity to see their work. I think that every
image teaches me something, that the lessons seep in through
my visual cells somehow and come out in my work when
I paint.
I'm not painting today. It's tax time, and the end of term.
I will read 1500 evaluations and type out 235 individual
notes to my students by the end of the day tomorrow, and
get my tax information in. So...it's been a full day of work,
and tomorrow promises to be the same.
look at my daffodils poking up in a very cold, rain.
Gorgeous brave things. I don't have any sage advice
about how to save the planet. But I do recommend
enjoying it, and that can lead to love, and perhaps as
in all relationships that can lead to tenderness.
Have a falling-in-love-with-the-planet-again day.
Hi Barbara— Thanks for stopping by my blog. I love your colors and compositions!
ReplyDeleteHi Suzanne,
ReplyDeleteThanks very much, and I think you're a wonderful painter.
Barbara
What a beautiful post, barbara! You are inspirational. (good luck with all of those evaluations. Whew!)
ReplyDeleteHappy spring! :-) Liz
Hi Liz,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much. Love your dog painting.
Barbara
Those are very brave daffies! I, too, loved Stewart Smalley and am looking forward to Senator Franken making clever quips when he is finally seated....because "he's good enough, I'm smart enough and, dog gonnit, people like me!"
ReplyDeleteHey, that's true of all of us art bloggers, yes? I am very grateful for your presence online. You are like those daffodils--gorgeous and brave in your artful and beautiful colorist ways!!
Best wishes with all of your work.
Yikes. I got the quote wrong, but you'll know what I mean. We're "good enough, smart enough and, dog gonnit...oh, you know!
ReplyDeleteI really like choosing an art adventure. I know of a woman who recovered from a life threatening illness, divorced, lost her job and yet, read The Artist's Way and bought a ticket to Paris with her savings! Today, she is back at work with the joyful memory that she stepped out and did something less than practical but completely worthwhile.
Wow double Melinda,
ReplyDeleteHow lovely. I'm glad you know Stewart and that you too are waiting for Al to make some funny quips. He is a very funny man. You are good enough, and you're smart enough, and doggonit, people really, really like you. I hear the Quebecers are launching a campaign to woo the Tucson people to their shores.
Watch out.
Take care,
Barbara
