Autumn in the alleyway

of the lane way my dog and I turn into, just before we
cross the main road and walk to the park
entrance. I've turned down this alleyway hundreds
of times, and I always love the look of the colours.
The sheds and garages, especially the older ones,
without the zippy automatic remote doors, are painted
in bright contrasting colours, and at the end of the lane
a huge spectacular maple dominates the view in all
seasons. I turn the corner and the view hits me.
I'm trying to use a bigger brush and stay loose like
my friend Liza Hirst suggested.

These little places just beg to be painted. Add the color of fall and wa-la!! Total color. Great job.

I love this little painting. It is so happy and joyful! This must be so pretty walk in real life too. I also need to stick to the bigger brush when it comes to painting in oil. With watercolor I just let the water and pigment do their thing. Oil and acrylics are quite different animals from watercolor though aren't they?

ReplyDeleteI was a watercolour painter for about 10 years, and I enjoyed the big brush there too. But watercolour is a pretty exact medium. What I love about acrylics is that you can change your mind -- easily. Thanks for your kind encouragement.
