(I intended to put some colour over
the black, but I don't have time.)
get to bed on time for getting up very early
Wednesday when I have a 9 hour day at school.
Now that is a little tiring.
Luckily every hysterically funny teacher I know
will be there tomorrow. So I also have to rest
up so I can hold my own in the break.
A whole lot of painting is going on behind the
blog scene. I can't always show you my commissions
until they're done, so please be patient.
Tonight's painting is a little portrait I did in class.
I went to class! So great to see everyone, but a lot
of discussion about being tidy, and putting
furniture in order. It seems like I've been away
too long. (You know I do not have an orderly
influence on my friends there.) So nice to
see everyone's wonderful work, and the model
was lovely. I wish I'd had more time.
Have a having-the-time-you-need day.
Her face glows - you did it again!
ReplyDeleteSuper, Barbara!
Oh, I really like this, Barbara. I was going to say that this is very much like Alice Neel, but, really, I think this is even better AND friendlier.
ReplyDeleteWell done! You are a dynamo to be able to do all that you do. Wow. Do you feel that you are able to let loose when you are at your art group in relation to commission work?
Hi Liza,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your wonderful encouragement. I was working on white (gessoed) canvas, which I really don't like, because I like a ground colour. For the short time I had it's not bad.

Hi Melinda,
ReplyDeleteI even know who Alice Neel is now because I watched a documentary on her, and she was very hard on her sons. So I hope it's friendlier. I think I get spacey/spazzy when I don't have time. It's not really so much loose, as disturbed, as in rushed and miserable. Maybe that's the Alice Neel part. I like painting with my group for the collegial feel of it and the conversations, but it's just painting to paint, my commissions are sometimes a struggle, but in the end they're the
paintings I'm often the most proud of.

This is a wonderful portrait. She does glow and you captured so much character. I can almost hear her voice. :-)
ReplyDeleteHi LeSan,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much. It was a quick glow I was after. Really quick. So I'm glad you like it.
Take care,
Barbara
