Feeling right at home

Some of the pastries at one of the bakeries on our street

My friend Tamara van den Berg at the Biennale
who I will miss very much
It is Sunday, and the day begins like every day
with espresso made by Steven and served in
white cups. We drink two coffees and eat breakfast
in our incredibly sunny apartment. The difference
today is the bells that tell us it's time to get
up and get moving. Lots of bells, beautiful bells
on Sunday, from all the churches all over town.
Then the discussion turns to the plan. Now we have a
feeling that time is running out, and we have
to see more, and more quicky before it's
time to jump on a plane.

But first a walk, and lunch -- a simple panino.
We are starting to feel at home. This feeling
is definitely helped by being part of the
Biennale and feeling like we are with friends
every day. Tonight we'll eat supper with some
of our new friends, like we did last night and
the night before. It feels like a never ending
party with short breaks for seeing more museums,
shopping in the market and of course ...eating.

Have a listening-to-beautiful-music day.

  3. It really has been such a treat to experience your trip vicariously through your photos and posts. Thank you! I'm so glad that you two have had a great time. I'm sure you've made a number of life long friends. Now for that winter villa, right?!

    Take care! Virtual hugs.

  5. Hi Zina,

Everything is so appetizing. We walk for miles then eat anything we want, then walk for more miles. I'm glad the show is good. It will be lovely to see it when I come home.

    Take care,

    Barbara

  7. Hi Melinda,

Thanks so much. I feel a bit badly about not being able to paint, but I really don't have any space for it. The second story of our apartment has a lovely desk, and I drew there a few days ago,
but it has become incredibly cold. I have made some lovely friends. There was a super atmosphere at the show, and I'll miss those people. But I'm sure we'll all join together on the blog. My creative brain is wildly stimulated both by the place, and the people -- so I am having dreams of fantastic art. I'm even dreaming descriptions of art people have talked about. They describe it, then I dream it. Soooo cool.

Yes ... a winter villa would be farther south I think.

  8. Hi Davide,

I'm afraid I haven't got a leather jacket for you and one for Sandra, we spent all of our money on food! We've eaten out with friends for the past five nights. So fun! but I don't even want to think about it. Yes I understand your Florence inspired dining room. It is beyond beautiful here. Thank you so much for your wonderful translation. All of my Italian cards are long gone.

We will have lots to say when we get home. I think the hood will have to tell us to shut up!

    Ciao, and

    thanks again,

    Take care,

    Barbara

Barbara I know you had an amazing time so it just seems silly to say I hope you did. Words fail me and all I can think is ((big virtual hug)) I am happy for you!!

  11. Hi LeSan,

Yes I hope we can do it again sometime, and maybe the next time you can join us. We had a marvellous time, and are still rocking out here until Thursday now. It is a spectacular city.

I hope you're having a great time in your corner of the forest (as a friend of mine in Toronto says all the time.)

    a big virtual hug from
    Your Florence reporter,

    Barbara
