Last semester I discovered that the secret
to eight o'clock classes is to get to bed. I have
one tomorrow. I need to get up somewhere
in the 5:30 a.m. range, and I'm very bad at
that. So I'm heading to bed right now, and
I can continue my exciting list tomorrow.
I did a fast little sketch of one of my favorite
artists tonight. I won't say who. I found
out something fascinating, and that is if I
sit right in front of my computer and draw
in a small sketchbook I elongate faces. I
may have done that here, but as I like the
person, I like the sketch and will try again
at another more auspicious time.
For now. I'm obeying my own rule.
Have a getting-to-bed-at-the-right-time day.
I knew this face right away! Well done!!!

Excellent job you! He is certainly one of my favorite artists too.
ReplyDeleteHi Nicki,
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you think so. His face is actually much nicer than I've depicted it, but it's great that you recognize him. Now when you post a picture of yourself with the bangs grown out I'll have to draw you!

Hi LeSan,
ReplyDeleteYou are sweet. I'm so delighted that you like it. His face is not quite so long. Analyzing his photo was interesting because it is a perfectportrait (by the photographer) who I think must be a good friend. The pose is at once confident and warm and his expression filled with good spirits.
Stay warm,
XOBarbara
A great sketch! I love your treatment around the eyes. Wow.
ReplyDeleteNeat observation about elongating, too.
There is a "Sleep Challenge 2010" that I've seen lately that has me thinking about getting more sleep, regularly. I hear you!
Hi Melinda,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much. It may even be the tilt of the monitor. I've tried angling it differently to see how it works.
Ahhhh sleep. What a concept. We need 7 hours as women. I try to get at least that most nights. But my crazy brain is soo happy it has trouble shutting down.
