Early morning tomorrow so more tomorrow

In the kitchen
acrylic on canvas
36 x 26 inches
Barbara Muir
I don't know if you've seen this painting before
but it's one of my favorites. I've been marking all
night tonight, catching up so I can concentrate
on painting, and I am caught up! Yay.

This is a painting of my friend Jennifer in our
kitchen. It's a big 36 x 36 inch painting from a
few years ago, and I painted it mostly in one
evening while she posed.

Have a super-enjoying-your-life day.

P.S. Yesterday was like spring. I sat on the
back porch with the cat. Today it has been
snowing all day and Torontonians cannot
drive in snow. Crazy.

I think you've done magnificently with this portrait. I'm enjoying the diagonals from the left, the curves of flowers on the wall and the beautiful woman, all shiny and strong.

You are inspiring me to think about portrait painting again.

Hi Melinda,

This is an "old" one. Do paintings get old? They do in our minds of course because we know when we did them. This is at least a few years old, because it has a bit of the look of watercolour, and the ground was gesso -- something I haven't been doing for a few years. But I love the painting. It isn't one I want to sell.

Hi Karen,

Thanks so much. That is the expression of someone who has worked all day, and then agrees to pose. Kind, resigned and patient.

Take care,

Barbara

Hi Liza,

I'm so glad you like it. We took the painting out of its regular spot when I had my show last fall, and just put it back, which made me very happy.

Take care,

Oh, I do love this one too! Like the clear focus on the figure and the way you left the flowers "sketched" in the background. So nice that you are keeping this beauty for yourself.

I remember this portrait Barbara. It really spoke to me at the time and it still does!
