It has been a very beautiful day here. I taught this
morning and my class was wildly excited about
the prospect of a long weekend. This joy reached
a fever pitch because it was an exceptionally
beautiful and warm day.
When they the class was released I went home to
handle a series of chores. Finally I got back to my
painting, and I am very happy with how it's
going. The girl's face is just a beauty. I learned
this technique of putting the blue underneath
from a friend in my art club, George. I really
like how it works in these water paintings. Because
blue reads wet, reads water.
I am having so much fun painting. But it's late.
More tomorrow.
Have a getting-a-really-excellent-rest day.

Hi Barbara,
This is looking gorgeous. Interesting process as well with the blue underpainting. The weather is so amazing isn't it. Another stellar one today i think too. Enjoy.
Beautiful work Barbara!

Hi Sally,
I was reading your blog, and I thought Sally and I could actually meet in real life! What a thought! Perhaps because it's spring, and the roads are no longer terrifying I thought hey! Sometime when I'm going to Ottawa I could go and see Sally, or she could be visiting Toronto and we could meet at the A.G.O. Wow! I love what you're doing, and I love your work.
Take care,
Barbara
Hi Flora,
Thanks so much. Water eh? You are so lucky to live beside it full time.

Oh, yes, this is a fine finish! The blue underpainting gives the portrait strength and foundation.
It's dazzling.
Glad to see and hear that you are doing better! Love where you're going with these paintings too.
Hi Melinda,
Thanks so much. You have been a wonderful help with your encouragement. Also now I'm thinking about being a powerful woman artist. It's like I owe the rest of my people my strength and belief in myself. That was a superb post you wrote (as always). You are so fantastic. And of course I owe the men who believe in me the very same amount of courage. I am grateful to all of the artists who inspire me and they are very diverse. But your point was that women don't think they can command the stage, until they do. I have my two feet planted on the planet. And here I go! Thank you one million.
