I spend a lot of time with teenagers in my
work and their way of talking rubs off. (Add
another dude here. As in Dude!)
The kitchen table
How are we supposed to eat with all
of these flowers? We manage just fine.
Friends have been awestruck by the riot
of colour created by our floral friends this
week. Ah forget it. What happened? The
flowers from last week didn't die. We thought
they would, so we bought more, and last
week's beauties stayed with us. Plus I actually
planted pansies in the pots at the front of
the house and you've got to pick those
every day (dude!) and bring them in.
So tonight's drawing is of the most gorgeous
red parrot tulips in my kitchen. I wish I
had time to paint them, but it's early to bed
tonight -- it's my early class tomorrow.

These are my favorite tulips.
But of course I love most tulips.
series tonight. That is I painted on the
orangey/brown ground, but realized that
I was way too tired to draw my next image
on the canvas. So I'll wait until tomorrow.
I am dreaming of this series now. It's pretty
exciting!

Great drawing there. Really, very nice indeed. The live ones look splendid in your kitchen. Never apolgize for having the good taste to fill your home with flowers. That sounds like something Katherine Hepburn would have said. Hehe

ReplyDeleteDude, I'm so glad you like it. The live ones have now caved. They don't seem to like the winter then summer then winter weather we're having. Yesterday winter, today summer.
My mother's generation used to think that those weather changes made you sick. They don't but they do cause serious fashion challenges.

ReplyDeleteThanks so much. I'm delighted that you like the kitchen. I'm an enthusiastic hostess, but I don't cook except every other night. So I always need an assistant, preferably the excellent cook I live with, to pull off a party.

ReplyDeleteDude I'm working on a people series. Flowers are a sideline. That is I like painting them and do paint them, but they're not the main event. In the house though, they play like a major role dude. That's because Toronto is blessed with great flower stores, and those tulip pots were 3.99 each, or about 3.75 American. So Dude, you like can't not fill your kitchen with them eh! Love your work dude.
