TV on Blue Monday

According to the Globe and Mail this is Blue
Monday, or the saddest day of the year. I felt atwinge of the blues yesterday because some
people in my family are far away. But I rallied
on Monday. Too much going on.
Blue Monday was apparently invented by
travel companies as a way to get us to get up
and go as a cheering up device.
As for me I got to talk to a local artist I met
via the blog world, and that was fun. In fact
it made my whole day. I think the answer to
the winter blahs, if there is such a thing, is
to have so much to do that you hardly notice
the weather except to enjoy the sunshine,
and clear the snow as you move from one
project to the next.
I did not have time to paint today, but I
did this quick sketch from one of the
photos I thought about using in a series
I'm doing. I like the pensive expression and
the way the sweatshirt hood looks almost
medieval. I'm successfully fighting off
a sore throat so I'm calling it a day. Please
don't be blue.
Have a nothing's-blue-but-my-blue-paint day.
hi Barbara,
ReplyDeleteit was so fun to talk to you yesterday and thank you for your thoughts on artists websites. i'm not wavering now and feel happy about the decision. Hope you overcome the sore throat and cold symptoms. i continued to think about you and our chat for the rest of the day while i painted. it was uplifting.
I like your sketch. Hope you feel better! :-)
ReplyDeleteI also like your sketch! And I hope your cold goes away and doesn't get worse. Blue Monday? Not for me this time either. I managed to paint two paintings I liked yesterday, which made my day.
ReplyDeleteBarbara I phoned you on blue Monday but you didn't pick up. Please take care of yourself and whatever it is you have! No stewing, fretting or worrying which is the sort of thing I might do but not you! You'll get everything done. You always do. Your work is gorgeous! It doesn't fall far from the tree!
ReplyDeletelove, Marcia
Hi Sally,
ReplyDeleteYes it was great to talk to you. You were both inspiring and reassuring. I now feel much better about my prices. I keep being on the edge of the cold, taking the Cold FX and coddling myself, but the biggest sign that there's something there is the strong urge to crawl into bed and sleep.
Not allowed!
XOBarbara
Hi Linda,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. You are the sweetest. Stay well.

Hi Liza,
ReplyDeleteYour paintings are astounding. I'm in a terrible time crunch right now, but I promise to catch up properly in a week. Meanwhile I love the staircase, the views of Barcelona. I hope you're arranging a show of these paintings.

Oh Marcia,
ReplyDeleteWe are sisters in the land of the worry. Yes we are. Fret. I certainly do! I am determined not to, but that's a whole other thing. Thanks for reminding me though. Now it's back to the canvas.
Love Barbara
