I was hoping to post more pictures of the artists'
day in Ayr, but the images on our larger cameraare all blurry. The smaller one we used is on
loan, so I may have more for you later in the week.
Meanwhile, there's a certain poignant feeling to
this end of winter. As much as those of us in this
part of the country are sick of cold and snow,
we also have brilliant crisp sunny days with very
little pollution -- and those make me think. What
if I actually missed winter? Crazy as it sounds I
am sorry at this time of year to know the season
is almost over.
I started this little painting a few days ago, and have
been working on catching the brilliant colour you see
when you go for a walk on even a dull winter day.
The new snow combined with a vibrant undercurrent
of trees and bushes getting ready for spring, always
surprises and delights me.
Have a noticing-the-beauty-of-winter day.

You know, Barbara, you have a gift for abstraction. This is really wonderful.
Hope to see more!
Spring is on the way. I know this because it blew through here yesterday like it was late! Totally windblown again around here.
Hi Melinda,
Thank so much. The scene is so lovely. I wanted to convey those thin brilliant branches of a certain bush. You look out the window and think you'll be walking in pure grey, or black and white. You get into the park, and everything is vivid colour. More wind eh? But I bet the wind is warm.

P.S. Happy International Women's Day.
It's exciting so far, Barbara. Winter does have it's own very special beauty and you've captured it here!
Hi Linny,
I might be finished. I'm not sure. I just think I'll leave it for a few days and see.
Love your work.
