Our family is a sucker for celebrations.
I know I've said this before but we go from
one holiday's decorations to the next from
Thanksgiving right through to Canada Day,
and then there's a short break before it all
starts again. We are not really Irish, although
my ancestors lived there briefly. They were actually
French who fled to Ireland because of political
difficulties. But today we love the St. Patrick's
Day celebrations because they're fun. We eat
something green, have green champagne and get together
to be jolly. We give our family green candy
and treats, and everyone is happy. What can
be wrong with that? Nothing. It's all good.
Oh. We also always phone my mother who
knows the words to "When Irish eyes are smiling..."
and we sing that.
Sam and Christopher in their St. Patrick's Day hats
home from university for the weekend, and
won't be here on the day. So that is it.
Have a loving-family-celebrations day.
Nice drawing. And you guys are so CUTE! I want to wake up at your place Easter morning...lol
ReplyDeleteLove the photo!!
ReplyDeletejolly looking leprechauns.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo of the guys! There IS that Irish look about them tho. Maybe it's just the hats.

Hi Kim,
ReplyDeleteThose guys are cute! Easter morning? Maybe for the champagne and orange juice. You're probably right. We do bunnies and eggs (fertility)(spring).

Hi Pam,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much. I do too.

Hi Sally,
ReplyDeleteThat Leprechaun look is in now isn't it. Funny. They are a cheery bunch.

Hi Eldon,
ReplyDeleteI think it's the hats and the beards. Their mother wants them to shave, but she is ignored on this point. Irish eh? Maybe Dutch/Indonesian/Scottish/Italian = Irish. Funny. I hope you are well.
Take care,
Barbara
Great photo! I'm sure you had a great weekend- all four of you together.
ReplyDeleteMy grandma was born in Belfast and always wore a "Kiss me I'm Irish" button around this time of year. I miss her.
XO Nicki
Hi Nicki,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much. Here's to your grandma from the Irish in me. My father said that my mother was very Irish. I think he meant that she was a romantic. Ah well then to your grandma and my Dad, both gone.
I wish you were here, we'd have green champagne!
XOBarbara
Happy Paddy's day Barb. Lots like you had fun. we're only catching up on you here. I've just finished the kids faces and even the dog is wearing the green!

Róisín
Hi Róisín,
ReplyDeleteWe had to have it early because the family was not together on the actual day. I was sad about that because I think I love it more than Christmas.
I Love your work.
