Hi there,
I've missed you. I am not quite finished painting like
fury, but I can see the light -- of course that's the
whole point isn't it? Here's a painting I've been
working on. I may tweak it a bit further, but
I'm quite happy with where it's going. It's the
view from my back porch, and it makes me
happy. That great gaggle of branches will soon be
filled in and I won't even know the neighbours
are there. I like the view at any time of year, and
this was how it was earlier in the week.
Have a loving-your-neighbourhood day.
It made me happy, too. I smiled when it pooped up!.
ReplyDeleteI love this, Barbara. You must have a lovely neighborhood. It's good to see what you've been up to, lovely and cheery as ever.
ReplyDeleteReally well done, Barbara! I do love those lines, the graphic strength of this, and of course, the colours!
ReplyDeleteBarbara, I love the rhythms of the trees in this against the sky and houses - and of course the color!
ReplyDeletelove, Marcia
You must have a lovely neighborhood.I love the rhythms of the trees in this against the sky and houses. Thanks
ReplyDeleteI love this painting - lucky you to have such a view of a wonderful neighbourhood, Barbara. (It's kind of like your "view", which is a full of wonder, happy one!)
ReplyDeleteHi Pam,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much. I'm thrilled that you like it.
XOBarbara
Hi Julie,
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit behind with my comments. I do love my neighbourhood, but it's nothing fancy. But everything looks good in spring light.

Hi Melinda,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. I'm over the moon that you like it. I'm so glad that your show went well. Congratulations. I love what you said about making a place for it to happen, and then it did. I will be thinking of that often in the next few days.

Grazie Marcia,
ReplyDeleteWhew I am delighted you like the trees. They change faster than a two year old child. Today would be a whole other world I think.
Love Barbara
Hi Toronto Home Renovations,
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you like the painting. This means a great deal to me.
Take care,
Barbara
Hi Linny,
ReplyDeleteYou are right. What would I call it?
It is my world view of course. I'm sure I've pumped the colour up in places, but I've been to Linnyland, and I love colour too.
Love your paintings so much.
XOBarbara
Hi Barbara:
ReplyDeleteIt is a couple weeks since I have been on your blog.
This work is marvelous!
Hi Jill,
ReplyDeleteI'm delighted that you like it. I see this view every day, but as Linny pointed out it is decidedly my "view".
I hope the weather warms back up so I can sit out on the porch and look at the view.
XOBarbara
I think this painting is lovely Barbara, so homely and "north american" (you include Canada in "north america" still? that was the case when I was at school). It somehow puts me in mind of those beautiful old patchwork quilts the early settlers used to make. Hope the show goes really well for you.
ReplyDeleteHi Sheila,
ReplyDeleteI love what you've been doing to your paintings -- the vigorous transformations. Thank you. The actual scene is a bit more drab until the canopy of leaves takes over. But that's the artist's license. Yes Canada is part of North America.
It's true it is very different than England. That's why I love your town scenes.
XOBarbara
What a happy and carefree feeling this painting gives. It says it's time for block parties and sparklers and friends coming over for a cookout. Ah the return of flowers and backyards and balmy breezes!
ReplyDeleteHi Terri,
ReplyDeleteYou're right about all of that. Oh my goodness. I'm glad my painting says that because that's what will happen exactly. The street those houses are on always has a block party. We always have sparklers on Victoria Day and Canada Day. All the neighbours barbecue all summer, and soon we'll sit out on the back porch and have a great time.
Take care,
Barbara
