I haven't painted much in the last two weeks.
For me that's a long time away from my passion.
But I painted so solidly, and intensely
for the two months before the show opened, that
I thought I could use a break to pull back and
decide what was next.  Still it's almost impossible
for me to stop drawing. I draw when I'm sitting in
a car, every single time I'm waiting, even in between
chapters when I'm reading a book.

So here are a couple of small sketches from
today.  I know I held my tiny Moleskine at
an odd angle, but I like the results.  Painting
will resume again tomorrow.  I'm sure I learned
a lot in the break.

Have a-drawing-for-pleasure day.

  1. Very nice! Love the subjects and also the way your lines are so gestural and "open"! Drawing is such a pleasure: why don't I do it more?? Once again, you inspire me!

  4. All of us need time away from the easle at some point, so after all your hardwork towards the shows etc, it's good to have a rest and recharge the batteries. great line drawings.

  12. Hi Sally,

Thanks so much. I don't really need time away from the easel, I just haven't had time to get to the easel. Back at it now, but results take time.

    Love your work.

  13. Hi Marilyn,

Happy Thanksgiving. I didn't realize that's what's happening in the U.S. We have ours in October, so we're just gearing up for Christmas here.

  14. Hi Melinda,

Thank you. I've been trying to train myself for a couple of years to draw quickly. Sometimes a gesture is just so awesome that I catch it like a dream. You are too kind, and I really appreciate that.
