Peonies in a Victorian jug (Work in progress)
Black marker on bond paper
12 x 14 inches

I walked my dog today in a chilly rain. We walkedby gardens missing their snow covering, green
leaves that have grown, frozen, grown -- and
have no idea what's going on. This winter is an
odd one so far. Tomorrow we should have snow again.
But I started working on a drawing
of peonies, from a photo of the glorious flowers my
neighbour lets me cut every year -- the perfect shade
of pink, the smell like heaven. This is not an iPad
drawing. And it may turn into a coloured pencil
rendering, but I haven't had time in the past few weeks
to go that deep. For now, I like the line.
Have a following-a-glorious-line day.

I certainly like the line, too!
And it is so difficult to draw or paint these flowers. You have mastered it perfectly, Barbara!
Love the lines too. Peonies are heavenly : ) Look forward to seeing it progress!
p.s. and regarding the weather - I know! Weird! Snow tomorrow and 8 on Sunday?
Hi Liza,
What fabulous paintings you've been doing in London. I hope everything is going well there.

Hi Kim,
Thanks so much. It may be a while before I do anything else with it. The colour would be lovely in watercolour, but the paper is not up to taking water. Sooo. Coloured pencil feels a bit restrictive.
Love your wonderful France trip.

Hi Barbara, I love peonies too . We have them in our garden - pinks and reds and whites - you have a standing invitation, come summer, to have a session with them – these, that I’m looking at on your post, are marvelous, luxuriant. Beautifully drawn.
Love, Marcia
Hi Marcia,
What a sweet idea. I will think of that lovely possibility on these very cold and snowy days.
Love,
Barbara
