The whole point

 Calling home
iPad Skype drawing
8 x 10 inches
Barbara Muir © 2012
(For a non-techie I thought this was funny -- a
double barreled tech attempt, Skype and iPad in one
fell swoop)
It may not be the entire reason for being on the
planet, but I think it's an important one -- and that
is loving people.  Rock bottom we need to learn
how to love ourselves first, but then it's family,
friends and so on.  This face is the center of
my loving world, my dear one, Steven.  He has a great
face, and a great tenderness for me and our sons.

Drawing with the iPad reminds me of the contour
drawing exercise teachers start you on at art
school -- only then you were feeling the face with
your pencil. With the iPad, you are feeling, and
drawing with your finger (you can get a stylus), and
that is cool, because it really is like feeling the face
as you draw.

Have a drawing-the-people-you-love day.

Wow - this is great! Such a sensitive drawing. I love how you're embracing the technology. Gotta get on that..; )

When I think of all the unnecessary cruelties we inflict upon ourselves and others, I couldn’t agree more. You are definitely one of the kindest of people and funny too!
Wonderful portrait of Steven and on an ipad yet!

Great job with these.

This is wonderful and sensitive Barbara. There is an airbrush quality to some of the marks which adds to the soft feeling. Your man is one in a million.

Nicki

Hi Kim,

Thanks so much. The technology is letting me get some colour on the page while my studio hosts the tree. We're both so busy that we haven't had time to take it down.

Love what you are doing.

Hi Marcia,

Thanks so much. No kidding eh? I can't claim any saintliness, but I do think about how to get happy. A lot. Thanks. I think you are incredibly kind -- and no question about it you are funny. Plus a brilliant artist.

Well -- I was feeling lovestruck. So I guess any medium would do.

Love,

Barbara

Hi Karen,

Thanks so much. I'm glad you like them. I love your recent portrait and painting of the people in the canoe. So wonderful.

Hi Nicki,

There actually is an airbrush tool on the Sketchbook pro app I'm using. The great thing about it is it lets you figure out where you are, kind of like an underpainting, and then you can sharpen your focus with other tools. I am definitely out of my depth. But the colour is seductive, and the immediacy. So there will be more. Soon real paint will happen.

Wow, Barbara. This is amazing. Fabulous, actually. You did that with your finger, eh? Very wonderful!
