People who care about the planet are very worriedabout the latest weather upsets. Magnolias in Toronto
in March are out too early. Last night we had 7 below
Celsius here, and the flowers on many Magnolias are
brown and ruined before they'll ever get to bloom.
I went to my art group tonight, and the model looked
fierce. She wasn't, but this whole scene came into my
mind instantly looking at her -- as though she was
worried about the earth too. I liked the spare angular
quality of her face, much thinner than I made it.
I've been painting all day on a big painting, and
I only had an hour or so, so couldn't go Cubist or
Art Deco on myself like I wanted to. But it was fun
being with my friends and watching them paint, even
for a precious hour.
Have a taking-care-of-the-planet day.

I really like the strength in this model's face. You've got some great colours going too!
I'm sorry about the planet. Every little thing we do to help, will be appreciated by nature, but the big polluters must have a spiritual awakening, don't you think? Or, they must have stringent regulation...
Love the colors and shapes in this painting!
Hi Melinda,
Maybe the big polluters have to have a financial awakening. If we lose our apple crops because the blooms are coming out before the frost is gone, that will affect the food industry who make the applesauce sold in supermarkets. Never mind that it will hurt the fruit farmers, and people like us who want to eat those apples. And so on. So the sad thing is that it has to go too far before anyone notices.
Thanks for your kind comments, superb art, and great, generous mind.

HI Barbara,
Oh, your poor magnolias! : ( They make me so happy every spring. They're saying we're getting snow tomorrow! The other night I went outside and put towels over the tulips that had begun to flower tp protect them. I think I'll have to do it tomorrow as well. I really enjoy looking at the portrait. Very strong and bold and graphic. Happy Thursday!
Hi Kim,
I should try that towel thing because it's going to snow tomorrow and our tulips barely made it through the last couple of frosts. I don't have a Magnolia tree myself, it's Toronto's Magnolias I feel badly about. They usually grace the city (in about five weeks) with the most gorgeous show of opulent blooms. Not this year, although some of the white blooms seem to have faired better than the pink. It has been a very happy Thursday all the same.
XO Barbara
