Family's home, and a painting goes home

 Adriana's celebration

The nice thing about long weekends is having time
to see family, even though everyone is really busy.
I finished a commission today and began doing research
for another set of paintings. April always seems to be
insanely packed because I'm gearing up for spring shows.
My client came today, was very happy with
her portrait and took it home.  That always gives me a
great feeling.  I helped pack it in the car and went inside
to the empty easel.  And there my easel stood speaking of past
work (all the paint forming a thick crust on the ledge) and
waiting for tomorrow, when it will get to work again.

Have a great weekend for whatever you're celebrating.

  1. Oh, yes, your easel urges you onward! Lovely work, Barbara. I'm happy that your commission is completed and you can go forward with new work.

    It's exciting.

I'm happy, too, that your family is home. What a treat. Enjoy every second.

  3. Hi Melinda,

My easel, that well used piece of equipment, does encourage me. There is a lot of new work to do. I loved having the boys and Megan over on the weekend. How fun and funny.
    Come out east!

  4. Hi Sally,

I'll have to get a better picture of the painting. I am quite proud of how it turned out. It's a big painting, and I did mostly from memory, two short sessions and photos.
So that made me happy. I love your work.

    XO Barbara
