Sick (sic)

(I wish I could wake up to breakfast in
that spectacular room (free room) tomorrow.
Alas -- back home now. Working.)

Since I got home from beautiful Nova Scotia I have had a very
bad cold.  I know who gave it to me.  My sweet husband.  But
he is better and mine is getting worse.  Since yesterday I've
had laryngitis on top of the sniffles and coughing.  And I say
enough already. Because I didn't mind the cold, but not being
able to talk or get my voice to work -- that's not natural for me.

Add to this the fact that they're tearing up my street to
make new sidewalks and the noise begins in earnest at
7:30 a.m. and you have a formula for missing my school house
and acre of land -- birdsong, peace and quiet almost too
much.  But on the flip side, when I'm better I'll appreciate
my friends and family here, the buzz, the wonderful park
near me, the trees and yes, my studio.  I was in there
today to finish this little watercolour of our breakfast table
at the hotel in Quebec City last week.  Meanwhile I'm
working on painting, but have limited energy for blogging.
I hope you know that I love your work.

Have a happy-to-be-healthy day.

  1. Dear Barbara,
I am so impressed with this beautiful watercolour! It is simply gorgeous.

Gee, if I could hand you a good pair of earplugs and a sleep mask (and some yummy soup), it might help.

The transition back into the city is beyond my expertise. It's a challenge, but you'll make it.

Get well soon! Remember to rest and watch comedies!

    Virtual hugs.

  3. Awwwe, pumpkin, I'm sorry you're sick! Sending you an extra large hug, virtually, along with a cup of warm soup and a nose mitten. Feel better soon, both of you!

  4. Hi Melinda,

Thanks so much. I'm glad you like it. I did take your advice about earplugs, a sleep mask and yummy soup. I am much better though still not 100% -- working but tire easily.

    Comedies! Great recommendation.

    XO Barbara

  5. Hi Liza,

So glad you like the painting. This seems to be a lingering bad cold. But your sweet comment definitely cheered me up.

  6. Hi Belinda,

Thank you for the hug, although I do like the idea of Florence, Greece and Morocco! That helped a lot. What is a nose mitten. I think perhaps kleenex is my answer.

  9. This watercolour is so delightful! What a glorious sight!

I hope by now you are feeling much better. I have been doing the bare minimum of blogging these days due to family holidays, but must get back on track soon. I have missed reading your uplifting, encouraging and thoughtful posts and seeing your joyful artwork. But you are always in my mind as inspiration.

    XO Nicki

  10. This is a joy. It looks like everything you paint you are joyful doing it! Are you really? Do you sometimes want to tear out your hair?
