Hi everyone,SOLD ♥
Or your sad babies, or your mothers, fathers, sisters,
brothers. Just finished this commission of a baby, and
the client was very happy. I painted the baby's older sister
a few years ago, and although their faces are quite different
I wanted the paintings to connect, so I painted similar
leaves going in the opposite direction on the current painting.
I loved the baby's expression -- that straight up joy that
babies express so perfectly. She is a beauty. I am always
touched when clients come back to me because they
loved an earlier painting.
Tonight my dear friend and wonderful artist, Sally Chupick,
(who I met through blogland) and runs the Gallery at
the Porch Door, dropped in and we had some
wine together. Sally is always so sunny and warm. It's a
delight to spend time with her. We had both had long days
and didn't feel up to a photo, so forgive me for not
getting one.
Have a sending-me-your-babies day.

Hi Barbara
I want to thank you for your comments of late and for the mention on your blog post. I have been so busy painting lately that I barely have time to eat. I'm trying the One of A Kind Show in November. I know its not an "artists" venue only, but I thought with 120,000 people even the advertising is good.
I wanted to ask you how you manage to paint, have a social life, enjoy outings etc. You seem to be able to balance everything so well...even visiting blogs and writing. I feel like I need to stay confined to my garret if I want to make any progress.
Great portrayal of this lovely baby! What a great series this would be!
Hi Catherine,
I hope to get to see your work and talk to you at the One of a Kind show.
Thanks for the compliment. I always feel a bit like I'm run off my feet. If you send me your email address, I can think about your question and answer it more carefully.
XO Barbara
Hey there Barbara. Hope you got to wind down a little after I left. The wine helped! I zonked out the minute my head hit the pillow.
I love seeing your work in the venue of your studio setting, with the vibrant colour on the walls...it completely clicks, and your art just sings! i mean it does on the blog too, but the real thing is special.
Thanks for the shout out.
I also meant to say...wonderful portrait of the baby!
Hi Sally,
I wish I'd been more on. It was such an insanely busy day, all good, but no break from morning until I saw you and I would have so liked to be my full lively self with you. You are
wonderful. Thanks so much for the visit. It meant the world to me.
XO Barbara
