Happy Thanksgiving to my American friends. Iam grateful for your work and the constant inspiration
I get from reading your blogs.
Today I've been painting all day -- working for 45 minutes,
taking a short break and working again. One of the projects
I'm working on is a large -- 8 foot - 6 foot still life of a
delicious hotel breakfast.
I thought I'd show you the progress on the bottom left
corner -- it's coming along. There is still quite a bit to do.
One of my friends does a lot of painting with the image
upside down. This is one quarter of a really big painting.
But the quarter itself is Big -- 3 feet by 4 feet. I find I'm turning
the painting upside down, vertical, horizontal. Plus to join it
with its neighbours I am down on the floor, making sure they
line up.

I will give you more updates in the next couple of days.
Meanwhile, make sure you eat breakfast -- and I hope you
are eating it with someone you love.
Have an every-day-is-wonderful day
Amazing to be working on such a large scale. Thanks for sharing it!
ReplyDeleteI'm excited to see the progress on this Barbara, and so far it's looking great. I like the juxtapositioning of all the breakfast elements. It must be quite a challenge working on such a large scale. You inspire me with what you're accomplishing, especially knowing your busy schedule.
ReplyDeleteYou are *so* brave! Bravo, bravo... I cant wait to see the next post on this!
ReplyDeleteI really admire your spunk. Although I have seen canvases far larger than the one you're working on (600sq ft in the palace of Versailles, France) the largest I've yet managed in one piece was 24" x 36" and a Triptych 20" x 48". I dream of making large canvases but it's a question of what comes first, the commission to create a large canvas or the room to store some while I'm waiting for them to sell. Anyway I sold another painting today so I suppose I'm inching towards being able to paint a large bespoke piece. Thank you for all the inspiration you give. Happy Thanksgiving Sea Dean of FB Page Blue Sky Red Earth :)
ReplyDeleteThis is so spectacular, Barbara! I'm loving what you are painting and can tell that you do too.
ReplyDeleteI am very thankful for you. You inspire me, and I know that I have a way to go to catch up with your passion and dedication to your work.
This painting will be stunning when completed. I just know it because really, it is already.
Yes, it does help to work on a painting upside down. Fun.
Warm hugs!
Wow! This one is a doozie! Your ambition is to be admired. It is looking wonderful so far. Absolutely delightful.

Hi Sally,
ReplyDeleteIt is an intriguing project. Just trying to keep it both a whole and each part vivid -- is a thought process. Thanks so much. I am working pretty constantly -- but that's a happy situation.

Hi Sea Dean,
ReplyDeleteIt is super fun working large I must say. I also like working small. After large, small is like a holiday.
Love your work.
