Dreams of summer

I think it might have been June when Steven and I
last went to England in 2006.  A beautiful time of
year, and our friend Kathleen lived in Sheffield.
We spent a weekend with her, and one memorable
event of the weekend was travelling by bus to a little
town outside of Sheffield where there was a cave
and a small waterfall.  We were weary travellers,
and I think we slept on the bus, but on the way
home Kathleen pointed out the woods rushing by
the window which were carpeted in a breathtakingly
beautiful mauve flower.

Although I don't usually paint from memory, I'm trying
it with this work in progress.

Have a remembering-awesome-beauty-and-friendship day.

That would be the Blue John cavern and the Peak cavern I think Barbara. The flowers look like bluebells but I don't know the area well enough to say where that could be. I think we underestimate the extent to which we memorise and store images, however fleetingly we see them. This is a lovely piece!

I think they must be bluebells Barbara. I remember them so well carpeting the woodlands in the spring when we used to live in England. What a beautiful memory, and you've brought it to life again in this wonderful painting.

Hi Sheila,

I'll ask my friend Kathleen the next time we talk. Must get back to England soon. My mind is filled with images from that trip, and many from that short, rushed weekend.

Love your portraits.

Hi Eldon,

Yes I think you would love that part of the world, and the people there.

Thanks so much.

Take care,

Hi Sally,

What was strange about England that year was that it was unseasonably hot there. So we had lunch in a lovely pub, then hiked around the town, and up a hill to see the cave, then saw this incredible vision in the woods rushing by. Bluebells sound right.

Lucky you living in England. I'm so glad you like the painting.
