Summer welcome bouquet

been under the weather literally and figuratively
for a week. It's a thousand mile journey, and
not only did it rain the whole way, but Steven
and I were also sick with a horrific cold and
cough. We had two doctors visit the house
a few days apart before we left to make sure
we were good to go, although we felt like
pure garbage (you know the organic kind).
Essentially both doctors said, "Merp," or
"Meh" -- meaning not impressive illness
and sure we could travel.
So here we are. A little worse for wear, but
valiant. Nothing that two weeks of solid
sleep wouldn't cure. Instead I worked on this
little painting today. My dear friend Paula
up the road left a beautiful bouquet from
her garden as a welcome. Arriving late at
night in the dark after a long day in the car,
tired to the bone, seeing these pretty
flowers on the table cheered me up so much.
Paula is one of the kindest and most
thoughtful people I know.
Have a thanking-the-people-who-care
-about-you day
glad you made it safe and sound to your NS sanctuary, it is surely just the thing to convalesce and cure you of those nasty summer colds. Love the cheery bouquet painted in Barbara signature zippy and bright style. I have the fire on today here in the house, it's bloody cold in Ontario for August.
ReplyDeleteHi Sally,
ReplyDeleteYes, it is amazing to be here. A lot of rain, but sunny for the next ten minutes so we have to hightail it down to the beach. Have to put my feet on sand.
Hope you are having fun painting.
XOXOXOXOXOXO Barbara
So sorry to hear you have been feeling so miserable, but I am glad to know you arrived safely in your happy place. I hope your stay is pleasant and that you paint more lovely work like the one you show us in this post.
ReplyDeleteXO Nicki
Hi Barbara,
ReplyDeleteJust catching up on your wonderful blog! This painting makes my heart sing. Sometimes combinations of colours resonate so strongly that it changes my mood - and this painting has that magical combination. Just gorgeous!!
I hope you feel much better very soon and enjoy your time at the studio.
I LOVE this painting!
ReplyDeleteI hope you and Steven are resting well and eating good things too.
I'm in recovery mode from Paint the Town.
Our car is needing some repair work this week, but perhaps the following week we could visit you.
But first, we'll see how you are feeling and whether you're up to visitors.

Hi Flora,
ReplyDelete(I think you are anonymous), rest up and then we'll see one another in one lovely spot or another. Wonderful work on Paint the town.

Hi Wendy,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. I'm sorry I've got things out of order here. I'm so glad you like the painting. Wow!
You do inspire me to keep going.
This is an idyllic place for making art, my mind is filled with ideas.
XOXOXOXOXO Barbara

ReplyDeleteHi Nancy,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your kind comment. Your art is beautiful.
XOXOXOXO Barbara
I'm counting on you and Steven to bounce back with your usual vigour now that you're finally ensconced in your school house and soon to be dancing around.
ReplyDeleteHeavenly flowers.
Love,
Marcia
Hi Marcia,
ReplyDeleteWe have not quite met your challenge, but are on the road again visiting Flora, the famous Nova Scotia artist. We ended up going to the hospital in Pugwash, and were finally prescribed the antibiotics that are giving us a slow return to health. This was a bad, bad one.
But nothing could be more cheering than your message and the feast for the eyes that is Nova Scotia.
XOXOXOXOXO Barbara
