Breakfast at the Skylight Diner NYC

I am quite moved today thinking about reunitingwith my painting Breakfast at the Skylight Diner
at the Carrousel du Louvre Art Shopping show
this weekend at the Louvre in Paris!
Most of the time I am thinking 15 steps ahead
of myself, and don't often reflect on how amazing
this painting job is. But it's quite delightful that
a romantic breakfast with my husband in a
diner in New York City on Mother's Day a
year ago is taking me right across the ocean
to Paris.
It seemed to take forever to paint that breakfast.
I agonized over the French toast. And I know
I kept thinking -- it's one breakfast (but
such a beautiful one).
First stop Paris

A few years ago I painted one of my favouritemodels in a work called First Stop Paris,
thinking that it might somehow come true
for her. I hope it did, because she grew up
and I lost touch. But now I am going. In
fact today. You may be reading this as I
cross the wide Atlantic. I hope that I can
blog from Paris.
Meanwhile. Have a wishing for miracles day.
I will be thinking of you this afternoon as I paint Nova Scotian Lupins! Please have a croissant for me...actually ANY food in Paris will be delicious. Congratulations on the show. Say hello to the Musee D'orsay too. xooxxo

Hi Flora,
ReplyDeleteIt is magnificent here and so iconic. Of course we were
exhausted when we arrived, but we slept and we are
right near the Louvre. We had dinner at a wonderul Thai
restaurant around the corner (I am no so good at walking now)
and then walked across the street from the hotel to sit by
the Seine. So Monet, Manet, you name it. We are right across
from the Louvre. About two blocks away.
XOXOXOXO
Hi Marcia,
ReplyDeleteNo we're back next week, have a wedding on Saturday,
then home for Father's Day. It is so beautiful here.
XOXOXOXOXO Barbara
Hi Laurel,
ReplyDeleteI can almost see the paintings you would do
here. Amazing. It is so beautiful. There
are art galleries absolutely everywhere!
XOXOXOXOXO Barbara
Hi Verna,
ReplyDeleteI do believe anything can happen. Well
that would be lovely. We've had wonderful
conversations already with people we've met.
Love your work.
