Going the distance -- the Florence Biennale

Hi everyone,

I just signed off the forms to send my work to the Florence Biennale.
It is a strange feeling to go over your work with care (there have been
small changes since this photo), get it ready, and then try to
envision it going so far. But it's happening, and Mike at the
shipper has been so wonderful.

Now it's my turn.  How do I make the transition from uptight
artist, into international traveller, and get myself to the event?
Luckily this year I've travelled quite a bit, so it's not as
discombobulating as it would be if I hadn't been to Paris and
New York City.

I am crazy with excitement.  Cannot wait.  So here's the finished
product of what's going there -- to be presented as a unified
whole on the theme of our oceans.  I wish you could all be
there with me, and if you're going to be in Florence during the
Biennale, October 17 - 25, please let me know and I'll do my
best to get you tickets to the show!

In the meantime, where are you planning to go and show?

Have a charting-your-route day.

  1. hey Barbara congratulations on sending your work to the Florence show, i hope you have a marvelous time! I'm sure that would be a great time of year to go, but having said that, just about anytime of year would be spectacular in Venice! I wonder if it will give you fodder for new paintings? Travelling somewhere different always shows up in my work at some point. I'm heading to Stowe, Vermont soon.
Your wonder water paintings look super as a unified group! Have a great day.

  6. Hi Sally,

Thank you so much. I don't think I'll get to Venice because
Steven is going with me and has to work every week day. The
Biennale has events every day, and especially on the weekend.
I'm just so looking forward to showing in Florence again.
I'm sure Vermont will be absolutely gorgeous at this time of year.

    Miss you.

    XOXOXOXOXOXO Barbara

I know. Extraordinaire I don't know. I do feel filled
with wonder at the prospect of seeing this beautiful place
    again. I love your work.

  9. Hi Verna,

Thank you so much. I do hope the Internet makes it
easy to keep you up to date on what it's like. It
is just astoundingly beautiful there, and for an artist
a kind of heaven on earth. Love your work.

    XOXOXOXOXOXO Barbara

  10. Hi Mary,

Thank you so much. My mother would certainly be envious of
me going to Italy. As an art history buff, it seemed like she
knew every detail of every church in Italy. I loved listening
to all that she'd seen. Love your work.

    XOXOXOXOXO Barbara
