Sentimental Saturday

A Boy and his dog

Yesterday we had a visit from a three year old, and a four
month old baby -- so lovely.  Being around those little people
made me feel a sweet nostalgia for the time when my children
were little.  I'm not saying I'd like to go back, but I did love
raising children.  We were lucky that our boys were
healthy, smart and funny, and a treat to have around.

This painting of our son Sam and our dog Zoey stirs up
memories.  I painted it at our school house in 2003 -- 16
years ago.  At the time Gameboy was one of Sam's passions.
As he slept on a big queen size mattress on the floor, the
dog, who wasn't allowed on couches, beds or furniture, could
lie down beside him.  They loved going to the beach and
playing ball, and loved just hanging out when we got to
the school house. We had so much fun.

Sam is grown up, and Zoey died six years ago.  Sally our dog
today is too nervous to travel, so she stays home when we head
out east. I'm glad we had time at the beach with Zoey, who loved
the water.  Life is good, and children are a blessing.

Have a loving the art you keep day.

  2. Thank you so much Laura,

It was hard to photograph this because it's behind glass.
I really appreciate your comments. It was a sweet time
in our lives, but life continues to be wonderful, and I am
inspired every time I look at your work.

    XOXOXOXOXOXO Barbara
