I taught last night, so it wasn't that early.  But I vowed I'd

paint and draw all day.  So I did. First thing -- just a sketch of
the backyard.  I see this view out my bedroom window.
My neighbour has a beautiful tree he grew from seed.

Last year part of it came down in a storm that produced

intensive winds, knocking large trees down all over the

city.  

But this huge beauty has survived and all of us who get

to see it every day are so glad. In the current heat it 

provides a canopy of shade at the back of our yard and

I sit on the bench against our garage and watch the birds

fly in and out of its majesty.
