One of the things Steven and I love the most about going on holiday,
and staying in hotels, is room service. On our trip across thecountry to our place in Nova Scotia -- our usual summer vacation,
we stay at the same familiar hotels on our stops. In Ottawa
the woman who brings us breakfast is Nicole, and she is wonderful.
She always stops to talk, and has always been somewhere
fantastic herself.
This year when I called the hotel to see whether we could stay
there, I asked about room service and the very kind man on the
front desk said he wasn't sure if there would be any -- but
maybe there would be in August -- which is where we are now.
So I will call again.
Holiday to us means driving (or flying) through, or over,
beautiful countryside, enjoying amazing walks, delicious
food, seeing friends and relatives, and relaxing in the hotel
rooms before we arrive at our very rustic school house for
a short stay. Room service allows us to luxuriate in
the morning, drink a ton of coffee, read our books, and
slowly get ready for the next part of the journey. Thank
you Nicole, and everyone who makes road weary hotel
guests feel happy at breakfast time, you totally rock.
