It's my dear friend
Flora Doehler's birthday today. Flora is such a
wonderful artist. We love her art so much that when we
go to Nova Scotia, we take a four hour drive to make sure
we drop in on Flora and Larry Knox, her husband in Bear
River. They are sweet. And they are always wildly
enthusiastic about their lives. At a time when some of life
is so frightening, and much of the daily routine seems endless,
it is always inspiring to see Flora's art, and talk to these two.
Flora gets flowers like no one else, and her paintings have the
same effect as flowers -- they take your breath away with
their beauty. I always feel happy looking at her work.
Again this year it's a hard time to have a birthday.
Sending Flora a toast to a wonderful year with lots of sales
despite the pandemic.

Thank you so much for this special gift Barbara.
Today on my birthday we had sun, then a sprinkle of rain, then wind...a typical maritime Spring Day.
The daffodils are almost neon yellow. In my pandemic despair last fall, I planted 60 of them around the yard and under trees and anywhere I could sink a shovel. AND THEY ALL CAME UP! I have been enjoying them now for over a week and they are still coming, so this fall, I will plant more. Their smiling faces are helping to lift my mood after this impossible year.
I went to yoga this morning and Larry took me out to the ocean for a soft icecream in the afternoon.
Hugs and love to you and your wonderful blog and paintings and family. xoxox
Hi Flora,
Love to you. I'm glad you got to the ocean. Yes! The daffodils here are amazing. And suddenly today the magnolias are taking off. Awesome. Seriously.
Love your work!
Happiest of Birthday weekends.
XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO Barbara
