Just having finished teaching a course on Presentations
and Advocacy, I thought of this when Etana's portrait
appeared in my scrolling. She has worked on advocacy
since finishing her Masters. I showed this portrait at
the Florence Biennale in 2015. It was next to a large
diptych of the ocean and clouds. In a way the portrait
was about Advocacy, because the message with the
ocean painting, Etana's portrait, and a picture of my
daughter-in-law, Emily, was about saving the oceans.

I did this tiny sketch today in a notebook, inspired
by the beauty of a woman across from me in a café
with her friends. Steven and I were eating a delicious
lunch, and I brought my small sketchbook. What
I love about portraits, even very fast sketches, is what
they capture.
Have a loving your life day.
