Feeling happy

I talked the other day about the joy of going for a walk, after weeks when I couldn't.

This photo gives you an idea of what I saw, and is the perfect introduction to
today's post.

People are making lists like crazy right now -- summarizing the year's accomplishments,

and laying out plans for the coming year. I am a list maker.  Just made one for our
New Year's Eve party.  

But I hope you'll be content to hear that my main goal for the coming year is to be
happy, and to help the people around me to be happy.  That's big.  Everything

else will follow.

The few minutes I spent talking to the people about to toboggan at the park the
other day were so much fun.  Tomorrow most of this snow will melt, so we're

not like other snowbound parts of the world.  We want (some) snow.  And the

joy at this park -- the teasing, and joking, and hysterics as the grown ups
sped down the hill -- I want more of that.
